Convert PDF to ICO
Turn the pages of a PDF into ICO icons for favicons and Windows. Everything happens in your browser, so your documents never leave your device.
Why convert PDF to ICO?
A PDF is a document, not an image, so you can't drop its pages into a slide, a post, an image editor or an image upload field. ICO is the format browsers look for at /favicon.ico and the one Windows uses for app and shortcut icons.
One image per page
Each page of the PDF becomes its own ICO file, named like report-page-2.ico. When a PDF has several pages you can download them together as a zip.
Pages are rendered as images, so text becomes pixels: it can no longer be selected or searched, and it won't stay sharp if you zoom in a long way.
The background stays as it is
PDF pages are rendered on their white page background, so the ICO keeps the same solid background. ICO supports transparency, but a converter can't tell which pixels are "background". To get a transparent ICO, remove the background in an editor first.
Favicons and Windows icons
Browsers still request /favicon.ico from websites, and Windows uses ICO for application and shortcut icons. Icons are square and the ICO format tops out at 256 × 256 pixels, so a square, simple PDF works best; fine detail disappears at 16 × 16.

Questions
How are PDFs with several pages converted?
Every page becomes a separate ICO file, numbered by page. With more than one page you can download them all at once as a zip.
Will converting PDF to ICO reduce quality?
Each page is rendered as a ICO image. Text and vector graphics become pixels, so they look right at normal viewing size but won't stay sharp if you zoom in far.
Are my PDF documents uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, on your own device, so your documents are never sent to a server. Once the page and converter have loaded, it keeps working even if your connection drops.
