Rotate PDF pages

Turn sideways or upside-down pages the right way up and save the PDF so it stays fixed. The rotation is done in your browser, on your device.

How to rotate pages

Open the PDF and rotate individual pages from their thumbnails, or rotate the whole document at once. Pages turn in 90-degree steps, so a sideways scan needs one turn and an upside-down page needs two. Save, and the rotation is stored in the new PDF.

Saved, not just viewed

Most PDF readers let you rotate the view, but that resets the next time the file is opened, and everyone you send it to sees it sideways. Here the rotation is written into the file, so it opens the right way round everywhere.

Rotation is lossless: the page content isn't re-rendered, so text stays sharp and selectable.

Also need to remove or reorder pages?

The same page view lets you delete pages and drag them into a new order, so you can fix a messy scan in one pass. For anything beyond 90-degree turns, such as straightening a slightly crooked scan, you'll need an image editor or the scanner's own software.

Your files stay on your device

Scans of signed forms and IDs are the files most often saved sideways. The work happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored on a server. Once the page has loaded it keeps working offline, and it's free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Questions

How do I rotate just one page of a PDF?

Rotate that page's thumbnail and leave the others alone. Only the pages you turn are changed when you save.

Will the rotation stay when I send the PDF to someone?

Yes. The rotation is saved in the file itself, not just in your viewer, so it opens the right way round in any PDF reader.

Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?

No. Rotating only changes the page's orientation setting; the text and images on it aren't touched.

Can I rotate a page by 45 degrees?

No. PDF page rotation works in 90-degree steps. To straighten a slightly crooked scan, use an image editor or rescan the page.
