Convert Markdown to Word
Turn .md files into DOCX documents with proper Word headings and lists, ready to share with people who don't use Markdown.
What it supports
Headings become Word's built-in Heading styles, so the navigation pane and table of contents work. Bulleted and numbered lists, tables, links, bold, italics, inline code and fenced code blocks are converted too. Several .md files can be converted at once.
Why real Word styles matter
Because headings use Word's own styles rather than big bold text, the document behaves like one written in Word: you can generate a table of contents, restyle every heading in one go, and the structure survives a later export to PDF.
Things to check
Images referenced by a path or URL in your Markdown aren't fetched into the document, and raw HTML inside the Markdown isn't rendered. Extensions specific to one tool, such as wiki links or callout blocks, come through as plain text.
Your files stay on your device
Your notes and drafts are converted locally. The work happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored on a server. Once the page has loaded it keeps working offline, and it's free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Questions
How do I convert an .md file to .docx?
Add your Markdown files and download the DOCX results. Each file becomes one Word document.
Are code blocks kept?
Yes. Fenced code blocks and inline code are set in a monospaced font so they stay readable.
Will images in my Markdown appear in Word?
Not automatically. Images are linked rather than embedded in Markdown, and they aren't downloaded into the DOCX. Insert them in Word afterwards.
Can I turn the Word file into a PDF too?
Yes. Run the DOCX through Word to PDF, or open it in Word and save as PDF.
