Convert HEIC to BMP
Turn HEIC photos from your iPhone or iPad into BMP bitmaps for older software. Everything happens in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.
Why convert HEIC to BMP?
iPhones save photos as HEIC to save space, but Windows, most browsers and many websites can't open them. BMP is simple and uncompressed, and some older or specialised software won't take anything else.
File size and quality
BMP is uncompressed, so nothing more is lost in the conversion. It can't bring back detail the HEIC compression already removed, though. BMP is usually stored uncompressed, so the file will be many times larger: about 36 MB for a 12-megapixel photo.
Where BMP files work
Windows and macOS open BMP, as do most image editors and browsers, but websites and upload forms rarely accept it.

Questions
Will converting HEIC to BMP reduce quality?
No further loss: BMP stores the decoded pixels exactly. It can't restore detail the HEIC compression already removed, and the file will be bigger.
Can I convert several HEIC files at once?
Yes. Add as many HEIC files as you like and they're converted one after another on your device. There's no file-size or file-count limit beyond your device's memory, and you can download the results together as a zip.
Are my HEIC photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, on your own device, so your photos are never sent to a server. Once the page and converter have loaded, it keeps working even if your connection drops.
