Convert SVG to AVIF
Turn SVG graphics into compact AVIF images for modern websites. Everything happens in your browser, so your graphics never leave your device.
Why convert SVG to AVIF?
SVG is ideal on the web, but many apps, social networks and upload forms only take pixel images. AVIF usually gives the smallest files of any common format at a given quality, which helps page speed.
From vector shapes to pixels
An SVG describes shapes, so it can be drawn at any size. AVIF stores a fixed grid of pixels, so the SVG is rendered at the size declared in the file (its width and height, or its viewBox). Once converted, the image won't scale up cleanly; if you need a bigger AVIF, increase the width and height in the SVG first.
SVGs that load external fonts or images may render differently, because the file is drawn on its own. Embedding fonts or converting text to outlines gives reliable results.
Transparency is kept
Both SVG and AVIF support transparency, so transparent areas carry over without a fill colour.

Questions
Will converting SVG to AVIF reduce quality?
SVG has no fixed resolution, so the AVIF is rendered at the size the SVG declares. At that size it looks the same; it just won't scale up cleanly afterwards like the SVG does.
Can everyone open AVIF files?
Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari (version 16 and later) display AVIF. Outside the browser support is patchy: Windows needs the free AV1 Video Extension, and many editors and upload forms don't accept it yet.
Are my SVG graphics uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, on your own device, so your graphics are never sent to a server. Once the page and converter have loaded, it keeps working even if your connection drops.
